The start of it was, basically, an idea. The idea was simple: to create the best assault rifle in the world. Nothing, more or less than, the weapon of the future. A rifle that redefines the role of the infantry and what is possible with a single, portable, handheld piece of technology, packing as much innovations as possible. What followed was sacrifice, dedication and pushing engineering artistry over the limit. |
|
What you see here could best be described as an engine-powered caliber .10/60CLX/Nato (Case-less Explosive) bull-pup, mutli-purpose rifle in Space Frame construction with Solenoid Barrel® technology, integrated .40/60 M2000 8-round-revolverlauncher and VISYOtec K2 Tactical Aimpoint. Or, you could call it "the Engine-Powered Induction Combat-rifle: E.P.I.C." Available in black, white and burnt sienna. |

The cartridge concept is over 180 years old. Ammunition efficiency is an objective that’s been pursued for longer than just a day. About 50% of the weight and 40% of the volume of a cal 5.56 Nato are made up of the cartridge and gunpowder. The actual bullet itself is relatively small. So, caseless ammunition has a lot of potential: it could either be significantly smaller and lighter, or much more powerful. The biggest problem with modern caseless ammunition is the heat sensitivity, and the resulting "cook off" at a relatively low temperature of around 170° Celsius. In laymen’s terms, this means the will gun fire spontaneously without pulling the trigger.
This problem was addressed in an unusual manner, in the case of the EPIC. |
|
An induction engine in the stock vacuums a propellant from the caseless ammunition, mixes and compresses it with air, and ignites it through a spark plug. 50% of the emerging energy is directly converted into energy in order to fire the "Solenoid Barrel®", which accelerates and stabilizes the free floating bullets, thus making the EPIC A1 low on recoil and high on accuracy, while maintaining a compact and light architecture. Most importantly, a single bullet serves as a whole round, which means more penetration power and more space for more ammunition. More bang for your buck, essentially. |

You'll find a lot of things in the EPIC A1 – but not a single inch of a barrel. Instead the accuracy and penetrating power of an M82 within a length of only 75 cm. |
|
What has an engine to do with an assault rifle? Quite a lot – It's generating energy and shooting bullets while beating one record after the other.

The newly developed M2000 40 mm grenade is armor-piercing power in a small package – Wouldn't it be nice to have 8 of them without a single reload? |

The revolutionary VISYOtec K2 Tactical Aimpoint. Thanks to the crystal clear digitalzoom, you'll see what's going on, no matter if day or night. |

In order to build something truly original, one needs to operate in a truly original manner. The EPIC A1 is the first assault rifle in the world that has been built around a Space Frame, like a car. Until now, all rifles were traditionally assembled from multiple pieces in order to create a single enclosure, adding size, weight, and complexity. The EPIC, on the other |
|
hand, is based on a single, durable titanium frame, holding all parts together. Although the titanium frame adds to the weight, the EPIC A1 only weights around 6,54 Kilos (empty). Additionally, the space frame distributes balance throughout the machine while firing over the whole corpus and ensures a truly novel durability and warp resistance. |

The kick of a .10/60CLX/Nato is so inspiringly smooth, the operator won't be able to get enough of it. Fortunately, the EPIC A1 possess two magazines, identical in construction, and provides up to 60 rounds in a single reloading session. A mechanical feeding tube alternates bullets from both magazines, so the rifle maintains balance. |

Without means of control, there is no power. The grips of the EPIC A1 are comfortable and offer easy access to all important functions, such as the fire selecting switch, the magazine release button, and of course the triggers. The adjustable cheek-rest and the retractable stock can be adapted for one’s individual requirements. |

Never before has field stripping a weapon been so easy. All you need to do is push the big safeguardbuttons and your EPIC opens automatically. The complete engineblock can be removed through the retractable stock, |

while the Solenoid Barrel® elements can also be detached without any tools for cleaning or replacement. The K2 Tactical Aimpoint is mounted on a Picatinny MIL-STD-1913 rail for easy exchange. |

On the EPIC, details make all the difference. It sets the standard for elegance and power by not leaving a single millimeter unattended. At the same time all features are intelligent and practice-orientated. From the foldable HUD-Screen, to the selfilluminating back-up iron sights and the laser engraved type designation on the magazinbrackets, everything was created with the rifleman in mind. From any view, the EPIC is impressive. But little compares to actually firing one. |
